Our history
Founded in 2023, Clockwork Bio is the reliable, efficient, and accountable operations partner your company needs to navigate its current challenges. In true entrepreneurial fashion, Clockwork Bio grew out of customer interviews which repeatedly identified the need for part-time operations leadership... a Fractional COO. There's a very real gap between the readiness to hire a full-time COO and the operational burden weighing on the leadership team. Clockwork Bio aims to solve that gap and accelerate progress in each of its partner companies.
Our founder
Clockwork Bio is the brainchild of Shawn Ayube and his incredibly supportive mentors/peers/friends. First in his family to complete college, Shawn received his B.S. in Biochemistry degree from WPI then worked at several early-stage pharma/biotech companies initially as a bench scientist then in positions of increasing responsibility while successfully studying part-time for MBA and MS degrees.
While managing Cambridge research operations for Amgen, Shawn became involved with the internationally recognized non-profit LabCentral and eventually ran LabCentral's very successful collaboration with Harvard for several years. During this tenure, Shawn helped 50+ startup companies navigate their Lab & Business Operations in those early days, soup to nuts, while his team consistently achieved an 86+ Net Promoter Score. Joining full-time one of those startups, Shawn served as the VP of Operations through a transformative year for the company. Having been drawn to entrepreneurship since his teenage years, Shawn began testing the Clockwork Bio model by splitting his time between several early-stage life science companies, advising and supporting them on navigating their own startup journey. Shawn is an incredibly proud father of three wonderful children, jackpot winner of an amazing wife, and is immensely blessed to have such a wonderful family and circle of friends.
